It’s 9:00 AM and I better be at my desk with my computer ‘on’ at work. Phew! Just made it on time! Yeah! After 15 years of formal education, 7 years of sleepless nights (I worked for a call center, quip!), I continue to run with the world. For what? To probably buy all the happiness, I can afford to with the pay-check I receive at the end of every month.
To procure this happiness, I sacrifice my time with family; forfeit my family’s well-being and yeah social life. Not only disengage myself with my loved ones but also humiliating my dreams.
When my 3 year old looks at me; anticipating her dad would take her out for a breath of air and hear her discussing her new friends and wonderful activities at school and my answer being, “honey, not today. Dad needs to rush for work” it’s quite an upsetting site. The pillar of my life, my wife I mean, though does not ever mention, is longing and looking forward to some quality time from me. I only spend a few hours in the 168 hours we have in a week. Yet, she comforts me and her simple response, "sweetheart I understand" keeps motivating me.
Eventually, I decided, I need a sabbatical and I shall pursue a few of my unfulfilled dreams. I need to learn to play the guitar. To start off on the right note, I have borrowed a guitar and start my lessons next week.
As a child, I wanted to go places and today I want my family to enjoy the exquisiteness of the world. So in the next 2 years, I need to tour and explore 50 % of North India and completed South East Asia. Cool beginning here as well. We are through with Shimla, Kullu Manali, Chandigarh and Delhi. Thailand and Malaysia in South East Asia (oops! Need my family to travel to Malaysia)
Creativity – Voice over and dubbing has always fascinated me. How wonderfully the voice emotes, conveys and sells without you actually being there. (Yeah! I did lend my voice for an educational series) Well if you have any contacts; feel free to connect me. How about Voice-over as a profession?
Photography – A semi-pro SLR and the best of lenses, nothing more to ask for while you are on those trips to the North of India and South East Asia. (Will soon have one)
While these are few of my dreams and I see a stress free life; where does the dough come from? Well, I am prepared to give up everything I am doing currently and simply tag on my dreams; my family needs it. I reckon, if I am fanatical and professional with my dreams; I will continue to enjoy the wealth I work for today, tomorrow as well.
Folks! Need your thoughts, I mean orientation; before Dreams and Reality come together and the world witnesses a celestial wedding.
